Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

Eun AhnDr. Eun S. Ahn provides executive leadership in assisting the vice chancellor for academic affairs in the development and administration of UH West Oʻahu academic programs. He leads UH West Oʻahu’s assessment and reaccreditation process, oversees academic planning and policy, and works to develop new University programs that meet state and workforce needs. Most recently, Ahn created UH West Oʻahu’s risk management and insurance certificate program, with support from Hawaiʻi’s insurance industry, addressing the need for qualified insurance professionals.

Ahn joined UH West Oʻahu as associate professor of economics and finance in 2008 and was promoted to interim associate vice chancellor for academic affairs in 2013. An experienced faculty member, he previously held positions teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level coursework in finance, accounting, management and economics at Illinois Institute of Technology, DePaul University, Wheaton College, and more. He won the Outstanding Faculty Award at the College of DuPage and the Oscar Miller Award for Excellence in Teaching at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He also served as the Vice President of Administration and Finance at Trinity Christian College. In addition, Ahn spent two summers as a guest lecturer at Kazakhstan-American Free University in Kazakhstan teaching juniors, seniors and graduate students the basic principles of finance and management.

A resident of Mānoa, Ahn earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wheaton College, a master’s in business administration from the University of Chicago and a PhD in business administration from the University of Illinois. He has served on numerous directorships: Risk Management & Insurance Advisory Board, Hawaiʻi Economic Association Board of Directors, Hawaiʻi Council on Economic Education Board of Directors, University of Hawaiʻi Professional Assembly Board of Directors, E2 Educational Services Board of Directors, Laurus College Board of Directors, QE2 Educational Excellence Foundation Board of Directors, Kaimuki Christian Church Board of Elders.
