Office of Assessment and Institutional Research

The Office of Assessment & Institutional Research provides UH West O‘ahu with information to support institutional planning, academic program development, and decision making. In addition to responding to requests for institutional data, The Office of Assessment & Institutional Research performs the following tasks:

  • Compiles, disseminates, and analyzes student retention and graduation data
  • Conducts ad hoc studies on issues pertaining to academic affairs and course evaluations
  • Develops surveys and generates reports regarding recent graduates and alumni
  • Administers and coordinates online course evaluations
  • Provides data and other appropriate analyses to support accreditation proposals and annual reports
  • Reports campus-wide data to college surveys and publishers
  • Responds to data requests for program reviews and research as appropriate
  • Conducts assessment activities to supplement the efforts of divisional assessment coordinators
  • Performs educational effectiveness studies using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods
  • Collaborates with the UH System Institutional Research Office on system-wide and federal reports, surveys, and data system developments

PARTICIPATION IN ASSESSMENT

UH West O‘ahu is committed to developing the highest quality educational experience. In order to continue to improve programs and services, students may be required to participate in institutional assessment efforts including university-wide surveys, learning outcome examinations, and projects relating to General Education and/or the student’s major field of study. Individual responses and results will remain confidential. Assessment reports will not include student names, or other personally identifiable information.
