4. Complete COMPASS Test(s)
UH West O‘ahu uses COMPASS (Computerized Adaptive Placement Assessment and Support System) tests to measure a student’s level in both math and English. The tests are used to determine courses for which you are eligible to register.
The first COMPASS test for math and writing are free. However, you will be assessed a $25 fee for each additional attempt made. View the Placement Testing page for more information.
COMPASS Writing Test Exemptions
- SAT Writing Section – score of 510 or higher
- ACT English Test – score of 22 or higher
- AP Language & Comp Exam – score of 4 or higher
- AP Literature & Comp Exam – score of 3 or higher
COMPASS Math Test Exemptions
- SAT Math Section – score of 700 or higher
- ACT Math Test – score of 22 or higher
Most freshmen are required to take the COMPASS test unless they receive a qualifying score on their SAT and/or ACT tests. (See above for qualifying scores.)
Transfer students who have not already completed a college-level math or English/Writing course at their previous institution(s), may need to take the COMPASS placement test. If you are not sure whether you need to take the COMPASS placement test, please contact Enrollment Services at (808) 689-2900. You can also schedule a placement testing session, should it be necessary.
To sign up, please either call (808) 689-2752 or email email@example.com.
For more information about how to prepare for COMPASS, please visit the No’eau Center’s COMPASS page.
Graduating high school seniors and transfer students must ensure that all final official transcript(s) are sent directly to UH West O‘ahu’s Office of Admissions. Currently, your acceptance is conditional and contingent upon successful completion of any coursework in progress. Unofficial transcripts (e.g., issued-to-student, hand-carried, faxed and student copies of transcripts or grade reports) will not be accepted.
All official transcripts should be mailed directly to:
