OFFICE OF ASSESSMENT AND INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH
The Office of Assessment and Institutional Research (AIR) of the University of Hawai'i West O'ahu is responsible for course evaluations for teaching, the math pretest, student tracking, surveys, and other institutional research.
The AIR Office also does assessment of student learning outcomes including Critical Thinking, Senior Project, Practicum, Writing, Statistics, and other specialized fields.
The AIr Library which includes literature on assessment and institutional reports is available for faculty and staff use.
Also, institutional data on UH West O'ahu is centralized and maintained here through the UH West O'ahu Data Center.
Mission
The Office of Assessment and Institutional Research is responsible for the assessment of teaching and learning and for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of institutional data. Our primary responsibility is to engage in activities which enhance student learning. It is for that purpose that any activity is done and continued.
We believe that assessment should be driven by objectives, should be multi-faceted, and should have results taken seriously in the ongoing process of teaching and learning.
We further believe in the Principles of Good Practice for Assessing Student Learning and continue to strive to instill the spirit of the Principles in every assessment activity.
