Welcome to UHWO Career Services. We look forward to providing you with information, activities, and events that will help you make informed decisions about your career. We can help you find or clarify your career goals and plan your transition to graduate school, the workplace, or the next step on your career path.

Online Services


To access Career Services online resources, please complete the Career Services WebCT Registration Form below and return it to Career Services. Services include:

• Distance Career Advising via email or phone, including assistance finding a senior practicum site.
• Powerpoint presentations on creating a resume, writing a cover letter, and preparing for an interview.
• Topic handouts with web links on assessing your strengths, interests, and values, researching majors and occupations, conducting informational interviews, preparing for a practicum, writing long and short term goals, creating a career network, and planning an effective job search.
• Monthly schedule of events and activities. Check often for updates.
• Career Services updates through the West Press Express at your hawaii.edu email site.

Face to Face Services


If you prefer to meet with someone in person, we offer the following services:
• Career advising by appointment, phone or walk-in.
• Career Class/SD496 - prepare for graduate school, a job or a practicum, several sessions offered each semester.
• Handouts on assessing your strengths, interests, and values, researching majors and occupations, conducting information interviews, preparing for a practicum, writing long and short term goals, creating a career network, writing a resume and cover letter, preparing for an interview and planning an effective job search.
• Workshops on Study Skills, Time Management, and Test Taking Skills.
• Fall Graduate School Panels with representatives from graduate programs on O‘ahu.
• Annual Spring Career Fair with more than 100 businesses, agencies and organizations.
• Books and videos related to different aspects of career planning.
• Career - related updates through the West Press Newsletter and West Press Express.

UHWO Career Services is one of several resources you can use as you make decisions about your career. Also talk with friends, family, co-workers and professors about your career plans and options. Think and talk about your long and short term goals with others. Utilize Career Services activities, classes and events to learn more about your major and the career options it leads to.
