Contemporary Samoan Author and Artist Sia Figiel will launch and read from her latest book, “FreeLove” for UH West Oʻahu students, faculty, staff, and community members on Monday, April 25.

The presentation and performance is sponsored by the UH West Oʻahu Humanities Division and UH West Oʻahu English and Hawaiian Pacific Studies departments.

Sia Figiel is also the author of “Where We Once Belonged,” winner of the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize, the novels “The Girl in the Moon Circle,” and  “They Who Do Not Grieve,” and a prose-poetry collection, “To a Young Artist in Contemplation.” Figiel is also a performer and painter whose work confronts the world with a celebration of Samoan culture through insightful and honest language.
