UH West Oʻahu Assistant Professor of Creative Media Wojciech Lorenc’s feature-length documentary film “The Business of Staying Young” will be shown at the Star Doc Film Festival, an international documentary film festival, in April 2017.

“The Business of Staying Young” follows Jack Cione (88) who directs fellow retirement home residents in a Las Vegas style production of “Arcadia Follies.” Cione reflects on his show business past including ownership of a dozen successful night clubs in Honolulu, and the production of controversial shows like the first nude male show “The Naked Waiters” in 1972. While making “Arcadia Follies,” the legendary impresario, director, and producer learns about the impact of his latest endeavor on the lives of fellow seniors.

Since its completion in summer 2015, “The Business of Staying Young” has been accepted to the Cincinnati Film Festival, the Atlantic City Cinefest, the Ellensburg Film Festival, the Muskoka Independent Film Festival, the Buffalo International Film Festival, the Miami Independent Film Festival, and now the Star Doc Film Festival.

Wojciech Lorenc created UH West Oʻahu’s film, TV and transmedia curriculum. His work focuses primarily on empowering storytellers, artists, and journalists, and teaching them how to use social media platforms to reach global audiences. In addition to screening his work in film festivals worldwide and winning awards internationally, Lorenc has reached over 35 million people online through various media projects.
