UH West Oʻahu welcomes new vice chancellor for academic affairs

UH West Oʻahu students, faculty, and staff came together for a wehe (cultural welcoming ceremony) on June 7 to welcome new Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Jeffrey Moniz, to the University ʻohana. They recited the Mele Honouliuli composed by UH West Oʻahu PIKO Project Coordinator Puʻu Zablan, exchanged lei, and traditional Hawaiian greetings.

“I’m grateful for the warmth of your welcome,” said Dr. Jeffrey Moniz. “Thank you. It’s such an honor to be here.”

Most recently, Moniz served as the director and graduate chair of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Doctor of Education program in professional educational practice. The wehe ended with students, faculty and staff reciting the Oli Mahalo.
