The Gay Straight Alliance has two main purposes on the University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu campus. First, to promote awareness and understanding of gay, lesbian, bisexual,  transgender and intersex (GLBTI) issues and acceptance of the GLBTI community through campus and community activities. Second, it exists to establish a supportive and safe atmosphere on campus for members of the GLBT community. Activities include but are not limited to seminars, workshops, guest speakers, and field trips. GSA supports a diverse group of men and women from different degree seeking programs with activities and fellowship offered in a safe zone atmosphere.
