Oʻahu a Lua: Hawaiian Language Summer Institute 2012

This past summer UH West Oʻahu offered “Oʻahu a Lua: Hawaiian Language Immersion Institute,” a seven day course where enrolled students received three FREE University credits.  The first three days consisted of classroom instruction focusing on Wahi Pana giving students the time and resources to increase language proficiency after which they camped in Mokulēʻia for the remainder of the course.  During their stay in Mokulēʻia students participated in various mālama ʻāina activities including the Mālama Loko Ea loko iʻa (fish pond) and a hike up ma uka (mountainside) to Kahanahāiki.  Click on the link to view photos from Oʻahu A Lua.
