SCHEDULE OF CLASSES
The summer 2013 schedule of classes can be viewed on MyUH.  Prior to the first day of registration, students are advised to view the schedule of classes again in case changes have been made.

Be sure to check that you meet all prerequisites and/or co-requisites for the class you are interested in registering for by viewing the course description section in the General Catalog.   Note: The prerequisite for all writing intensive (WI) classes is completion or concurrent enrollment in ENG 200.

DISTANCE EDUCATION
UH West O‘ahu offers its distance education classes in three modalities, Interactive Television (ITV), online using the Laulima course delivery program, and in a hybrid format.

ITV classes provide learning at a specific time and place, allowing students to take a class from one location while the instructor teaches from another. Both the instructor and student can see and hear each other, simulating a face-to-face class environment. ITV courses are delivered in real time; therefore students must attend class in-person at their respective University or Education Center on the neighbor islands. Some ITV classes may include online components to enhance the class experience. For these classes, students must have timely access to a computer and the Internet.

Laulima is a course management and collaboration system used by the University of Hawai‘i where students use chat rooms, a bulletin board, calendar, and email to simulate an online classroom environment. Students may access their online class at laulima.hawaii.edu approximately one week before the semester begins. For more information about Laulima and computer requirements, visit uhwo.hawaii.edu/dltutorials.

Hybrid classes are taught online and include an in-person classroom component. Students will meet on designated days/times in a classroom environment with the instructor and other students. For the online portion of the class, students must have timely access to a computer and the Internet. For additional information about hybrid classes, interested students may contact the instructor.

WAITLISTING
The registration waitlist is an electronic list of students waiting to register for a class that has reached its maximum enrollment. If a seat in the class becomes available, the first student on the registration waitlist for that class will be notified through their UH email account and informed how long the seat will be held for them to register. While the waitlist feature is available, instructors will not be allowed to provide overrides for students to get into a closed class. Instructors will only allowed to provide an override into a closed class on the first day of instruction.  For more information, visit Registration Waitlist FAQs.

Waitlist notification for summer 2013:

Summer Session I and any POT class that begins prior to July 8:
May 26 – Last day to add a class to the waitlist

Summer Session II and any POT class that begins after July 8:
July 6 – Last day to add a class to the waitlist

International students and those on academic probation must see a student services academic advisor to register; online registration will not be allowed. Students on the neighbor islands may contact the Academic Advising Office toll-free at (866) 299-8656 or by email at uhwo.advising@hawaii.edu.

VETERANS AFFAIRS BENEFITS
All eligible students who would like to be certified for Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits are required to submit the Veteran Student Enrollment Information Form to the Office of the Registrar to ensure that the registered classes are applicable to the student’s major/concentration requirements. Students who need to make a change to their registration (e.g., add/drop) or elect to change their major/concentration after their classes were certified for the semester must submit the Veteran Student Change in Enrollment Form to the Office of the Registrar.

AUDITING CLASSES
Students who wish to audit a class must complete the Audit Request Form. The completed form must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar by the last day of late registration for the term in which the class is being offered. Students and instructors may not amend the audit grade mode to receive credit for a class once the audit grade mode is designated. More information about auditing a class is available in the General Catalog.
