University of Hawaiʻi — West Oʻahu

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness administers and coordinates assessment of student learning outcomes and surveys of current students, recent graduates, and alumni regarding their academic experience at UH West Oʻahu. The findings of our research on current students are used to support student success and increase retention and graduation initiatives on campus. The findings of the Recent Graduates, Graduating Seniors Surveys, Leavers Surveys and Alumni Surveys provide information about graduates’ post-graduation plans, advanced educational goals, professional aspirations, employment status, and suggestions for improving campus programs and services.

Survey Calendar

Surveys are important sources of empirical data about our students that can be used to make informed decisions influencing student success. Surveys are administered throughout the year to different target participants--some are division surveys while others survey the whole student body. Surveys administered too closely together can negatively affect response rates and results in student survey fatigue and less than optimal data. Divisions, faculty, and students can work with our office to develop and administer surveys on campus at the best time of the year. Please see the survey calendar below and contact our office for more information and assistance.

Common Data Set

The Common Data Set (CDS) Initiative is a collaborative effort between publishers and the educational community to improve the quality and accuracy of student information and to reduce the reporting burden on colleges. The CDS provides detailed information regarding admission policies and statistics; enrollment and persistence of first-time, first-year freshman and other undergraduates; academic offerings and policies; student life; annual expenses and financial aid; instructional faculty and class size; and degrees and certificates conferred.
