Pro-ISIS Site Hacked to Spread Malware

The Amaq news agency, the official news site of the Islamic State, was taken offline last Thursday after warning its readers that it had been hacked and that visitors to the site were being prompted to download a malicious FlashPlayer file.

Amaq news agency and other IS-affiliated sites have been repeatedly attacked in the past. A SecurityWeek article speculates about the perpetrator behind the attacks, “While it is unclear who may behind the attack, U.S. Cyber Command (CYBERCOM), part of U.S. Department of Defense, has publicly acknowledged that it has been conducting offensive cyber operations against jihadists targets.”
