On behalf of the University of Hawai'i West O'ahu (UHWO) Math & Science department, E Komo Mai (Welcome)!  At UHWO, our priority is to create a scholarly learning community of academic excellence.  To develop a strong math and science program, we collaborate with a variety of state, national, and international organizations such as the University of Hawai‘i Systemwide Office, Hawai‘i Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Polynesian Voyaging Society, State of Hawai‘i Department of Education, Hawai‘i P-20 Partnerships for Education, East-West Center, and Comparative International Education Society. 

Grants & Awards



The University of Hawai'i West O'ahu was awarded a $746,278 grant from the National Science Foundation's Tribal Colleges and Universities program (TCUP) to support curriculum development for new UH West O'ahu Bachelor of Applied Science in Natural Sciences Program / Applied Mathematics with emphasis on recruiting and retaining Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander STEM students.  Learn more...

Chemistry Lab E231



UHWO received a $245,000 grant from the Office of Naval Research to establish a Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) Center of Excellence at the University.  Among many things, the grant UHWO existing physical science laboratory into an interactive STEM Center of Excellence and furnish our science laboratories with essential hands-on equipment to support student learning and K-12 teacher education.  Learn more...
